Hailing from the cool, maritime-influenced vineyards of the Aconcagua region, Morandé's Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc is a tribute to the winery's pioneering spirit. In the 1980s, founder Pablo Morandé famously defied conventional wisdom by planting vines in the chilly Casablanca Valley, unlocking a new era for Chilean white wines. This Gran Reserva benefits from the cold morning fogs and cooling breezes of the Pacific Ocean, which slow grape ripening and preserve a vibrant, electric acidity. To build complexity and a rich, textured mouthfeel, the winemakers employ partial aging on fine lees in traditional oak foudres and concrete eggs, resulting in a sophisticated balance of bright citrus, herbal notes, and a distinct flinty minerality.
