✨ wine.spec_sheet

Bodegas Muga, nestled in the historic Barrio de la Estacion of Haro, remains one of the ultimate standard-bearers of traditional Rioja. Their flagship Prado Enea is a masterclass in patient, classical winemaking. Sourced from high-altitude, cool-climate clay-limestone vineyards in the foothills of the Obarenes Mountains, this wine is typically a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano. Muga is legendary for maintaining its own in-house cooperage, crafting the very oak vats and barrels where Prado Enea rests. The wine undergoes a painstaking aging process, spending up to 36 months in oak followed by at least another 36 months in the bottle. Clarified traditionally using fresh egg whites, it represents a seamless bridge between Rioja's rich history and timeless elegance, showing complex notes of dried dark fruits, leather, sweet spices, and forest floor.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño, Bodegas Muga is a legendary family-owned estate located in the historic Barrio de la Estación of Haro, in the Rioja Alta region of Spain. Renowned for its uncompromising adherence to traditional winemaking methods, the winery is one of the few in Spain to maintain its own active cooperage, crafting and maintaining all of its oak vats and casks on-site. Muga's philosophy centers on natural clarification using fresh egg whites and extensive oak aging to produce wines of exceptional elegance, structure, and longevity. The estate is celebrated for iconic expressions such as the classically styled Prado Enea Gran Reserva, the modern and powerful Torre Muga, and the refined Conde de Haro sparkling Cava.
