✨ Technical Specifications

Hailing from the historic Barrio de la Estacion in Haro, Bodegas Muga has been a beacon of traditional Riojan winemaking since 1932. The Muga Rosado is a masterclass in the classic Rioja rose style, uniquely blending red and white grapes—typically Garnacha, Viura, and a touch of Tempranillo. Cultivated in the cool, clay-limestone soils of Rioja Alta, these grapes undergo a brief maceration before fermenting in small wooden vats, a testament to Muga's status as one of the few houses maintaining an active in-house cooperage. This touch of wood contact, combined with lees stirring, imparts a remarkably creamy texture and complex structure to the wine, balancing its bright pale-salmon hue with vibrant notes of red berries, stone fruit, and white flowers.

🍾 About the Producer

Established in 1932 by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño in Haro's revered Barrio de la Estación, Bodegas Muga endures as one of Rioja Alta’s quintessential family-run institutions. Spanning high-elevation parcels situated along the slopes of the Montes Obarenes and the Sierra de Cantabria, the estate benefits from a convergence of Atlantic, Continental, and Mediterranean microclimates, where chalky clay-limestone soils impart quintessential freshness and structure. Viticulture is strictly sustainable, prioritizing soil vitality and biodiversity across estate vineyards. In the cellar, Muga remains a bastion of historic artisanal craftsmanship, distinguished by maintaining its own in-house master cooperage. All fermentations and maturings occur exclusively in custom oak casks and large vats, executed without stainless steel, followed by traditional gravity racking and clarification with fresh egg whites. Benchmark bottlings include the classically ethereal Prado Enea Gran Reserva, the concentrated modern icon Torre Muga, the single-vineyard Aro, and nuanced Méthode Traditionnelle Conde de Haro Cava.
