Oliver Zeter's 'Le Moelleux' is an adventurous and unconventional German interpretation of a classic French style, paying homage to the sweet Chenin Blancs of the Loire Valley. While the Pfalz region is traditionally dominated by Riesling, Zeter's pioneering spirit led him to cultivate Chenin Blanc in soils rich in limestone and loess. Benefiting from the Pfalz's sunny, warm microclimate, the grapes achieve superb ripeness, often welcoming the gentle touch of botrytis (noble rot) before harvest. The wine is carefully vinified to preserve its luscious natural residual sweetness, resulting in a golden nectar that beautifully balances rich, honeyed stone fruit flavors with Chenin's signature electric acidity. Adorned with the estate's signature whimsical bear, this wine represents a playful yet masterfully executed crossover of French tradition and Pfalz terroir.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 2007 by Oliver and Birgit Zeter in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, the Oliver Zeter winery has quickly become a benchmark producer in Germany's Pfalz region. Renowned for pioneering and elevating Sauvignon Blanc in a region traditionally dominated by Riesling, Zeter utilizes diverse vinification methods, including oak barriques, amphorae, and concrete eggs, to craft wines of striking individuality. The estate's whimsical bear mascot, illustrated by Pfalz artist Otto Dill for Oliver's great-grandfather, adorns every bottle, symbolizing their passion and approachability. Beyond their signature Sauvignon Blancs, the winery produces outstanding Pinot Noir, Riesling, and the popular, easy-drinking 'Tapps' range.
