Ornellaia, established in 1981 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori, stands as one of the legendary 'Super Tuscans' born in the coastal Bolgheri region of Tuscany. This flagship estate-bottled red is a masterfully crafted Bordeaux-style blend, typically composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The estate's unique terroir benefits from the cooling maritime breezes of the Tyrrhenian Sea and a complex mosaic of marine, alluvial, and volcanic soils. Each vineyard parcel is fermented separately before being aged for approximately 18 months in French oak barriques, resulting in a wine of immense complexity, structure, and elegance. Ornellaia is also celebrated for its 'Vendemmia d'Artista' series, which commissions world-renowned artists to capture the unique character of each vintage.

Situated near Bolgheri along the Tyrrhenian seaboard, the estate commands around 100 hectares of meticulously mapped vineyards. Soils reflect a mosaic of marine gravel, clay, loam, and limestone, nourished by generous maritime sunlight and tempered by cooling coastal breezes sweeping down from the Colline Metallifere. Viticulture adheres to rigorous sustainable standards, certified through Equalitas, championing parcel-level diversity and biodiversity. Ornellaia's winemaking philosophy centers on precise vinification of individual micro-plots in stainless steel and concrete before barrel maturation in fine-grained French oak.
