Ornellaia, established in 1981 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori, stands as one of the legendary 'Super Tuscans' born in the coastal Bolgheri region of Tuscany. This flagship estate-bottled red is a masterfully crafted Bordeaux-style blend, typically composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The estate's unique terroir benefits from the cooling maritime breezes of the Tyrrhenian Sea and a complex mosaic of marine, alluvial, and volcanic soils. Each vineyard parcel is fermented separately before being aged for approximately 18 months in French oak barriques, resulting in a wine of immense complexity, structure, and elegance. Ornellaia is also celebrated for its 'Vendemmia d'Artista' series, which commissions world-renowned artists to capture the unique character of each vintage.
