Pereira D'Oliveira's Sercial Dry Frasquera represents the pinnacle of vintage Madeira, showcasing the remarkable transformation of the island's most searingly acidic grape. Grown on the cool, high-altitude volcanic terraces of Madeira, Sercial is notoriously sharp in its youth. However, through the traditional canteiro system—where the wine is aged in seasoned oak casks in warm lofts—the fierce acidity slowly integrates with oxygen and heat over decades. D'Oliveira is legendary for aging their Frasqueiras far beyond the legal minimum of twenty years, often keeping them in wood for half a century or more before bottling.
