✨ Technical Specifications
Perelada Semi Sec Cava embodies a long tradition originating from the medieval Carmelite friars in Empordà and modernized by the Suqué Mateu family since 1923. Crafted using the traditional method, this sparkling wine blends the classical trio of Macabeo, Xarel-lo, and Parellada harvested from Catalonia's limestone-rich soils. After traditional bottle fermentation and extended lees contact, a slightly higher dosage is added to produce its characteristic Semi Sec (demi-sec) profile, striking a fine balance between round, ripe fruit sweetness and refreshing Mediterranean acidity.
🍾 About the Producer
Dating back to the winemaking traditions established by 14th-century Carmelite monks, Perelada's modern era began in 1923 when Miguel Mateu acquired the historic Castle of Peralada in northeastern Catalonia. Located across prime vineyards in the Empordà and DO Cava regions of Spain, the estate seamlessly combines centuries of heritage with state-of-the-art, sustainable viticulture. The house is widely celebrated for its classic sparkling Cavas crafted using the traditional method, capturing both elegance and Mediterranean character. Perelada's diverse portfolio ranges from accessible, fruit-forward Semi Sec and Brut styles to prestigious, extended-aged cuvées such as Gran Claustro.
