The 2022 vintage in Chianti was defined by a scorching, sun-drenched summer that tested the resilience of the region's signature Sangiovese grapes. Fortunately, timely late-August rains revived the vines, allowing for a balanced ripening phase that yielded grapes of remarkable concentration and aromatic intensity. This Chianti Riserva, predominantly crafted from Sangiovese with a touch of traditional blending partners, showcases the classic clay-limestone soils of the region. In accordance with strict DOCG regulations for the 'Riserva' designation, the wine underwent a patient aging process of at least 24 months, including a significant period in oak casks. This wood contact has beautifully softened the grape's naturally high tannins, weaving delicate threads of sweet spice, vanilla, and leather into the vibrant core of red cherry and wild berry flavors.
