β¨ Technical Specifications
Crafted under the Toscana IGT framework, Solco utilizes the traditional appassimento technique, where a portion of the hand-harvested grapes undergoes partial drying to concentrate sugars, phenolic maturity, and structural richness. Sourced from estate-managed vineyards across Tuscany featuring limestone-clay and galestro soils, the blend centers on Sangiovese complemented by complementary red varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel precedes maturation in oak casks, balancing primary dark fruit density with refined wood integration and supple texture.
πΎ About the Producer
Established in 1882 by Angiolo Piccini with seven initial hectares in Tuscany, Piccini 1882 has evolved across five generations into one of Italy's most influential, multi-regional wine houses. Now directed by Mario Piccini alongside his family, the group commands extensive vineyard holdings across Tuscany, anchored by estates in Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga (Fattoria di Valiano), Montalcino, and the Maremma. Viticulture prioritizes sustainable and organically certified management across estate parcels, situated on complex galestro, alberese, and clay-limestone soils blessed with sun-drenched diurnal shifts. In the cellar, Piccini balances contemporary precision with deep Tuscan tradition, utilizing both stainless steel and refined oak casks to accentuate Sangiovese's vibrant red cherry fruit, savory herbs, and supple tannins. Benchmark labels include the iconic Collezione Oro Chianti Riserva, Sasso al Poggio, Mario Primo, and the appassimento-style Solco, highlighting approachable, fruit-driven elegance and regional authenticity.
