✨ Technical Specifications
Piper-Heidsieck Essentiel Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut is a non-vintage Champagne composed of Pinot Noir and Meunier. This cuvee emphasizes the structure and fruit profile of black grape varieties sourced from diverse crus across the Champagne region. The wine undergoes traditional secondary fermentation in the bottle and is aged on its lees for an extended period, typically three to four years, before disgorgement. With a low dosage, this Extra Brut expression focuses on precision, freshness, and a dry, textured palate.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck with aspirations of crafting a cuvée fit for royalty, Piper-Heidsieck ranks among the most storied houses in Champagne. Today owned by the Descours family's EPI Group, the maison pairs historical gravitas with forward-thinking viticultural stewardship, becoming the first Champagne house to achieve B Corp certification alongside dual HVE and VDC credentials. Viticultural sourcing spans over one hundred distinct crus across the Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Bar, anchored predominantly in limestone and chalk terroirs. Led by Chef de Cave Émilien Boutillat, vinification prioritizes Pinot Noir dominance, stainless steel fermentation to retain freshness, and lengthy lees aging punctuated by generous reserve proportions. The resulting house profile balances bright orchard fruit, crisp minerality, and brioche complexity across benchmarks including Cuvée Brut, the low-dosage Essentiel range, and the library releases of Hors-Série.
