Hailing from the sun-drenched hillsides of Gascony in South-West France, Plaimont's 'Folie Roi' is an expressive sweet white wine that captures the historic, indulgent spirit of the region's art de vivre. The name, translating to 'The King's Folly,' pays homage to the legendary banquets of French royalty where sweet Gascon wines were highly prized. Crafted primarily from late-harvested Gros Manseng grapes, the wine benefits from the unique microclimate of the Pyrenean foothills, where warm autumn days are tempered by cool nights. This allows the grapes to undergo passerillage (shriveling on the vine), concentrating their natural sugars while preserving a vibrant, spine-tingling acidity. The result is a beautifully balanced sweet wine defined by luscious notes of passion fruit, fresh pineapple, and wild honey, offset by a clean, refreshing finish.

Founded in 1979 under the visionary leadership of André Dubosc, Plaimont emerged from the union of passionate winegrowers from Plaisance, Aignan, and Saint-Mont in the heart of Gascony in Southwest France. Today, the cooperative represents a collective dedication to regional heritage, championing the revival and preservation of rare, indigenous grape varieties such as Tannat, Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, and Pinenc. Situated across the foothills of the Pyrenees, the estate manages historic vineyards spanning Saint Mont, Madiran, Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh, and Côtes de Gascogne.
