Hailing from the rolling, sun-drenched hills of Monferrato in Piedmont, Prunotto's Mompertone is a captivating blend of local Barbera and international Syrah. This marriage of grapes brings together the vibrant, cherry-driven acidity of Barbera with the deep, spicy structure of Syrah. The Prunotto estate, with roots tracing back to a 1904 cooperative later revitalized by Alfredo Prunotto in 1922, crafts this modern classic from vineyards rooted in clay and sandy soils. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel before the wine is aged for approximately 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels. This careful wood aging softens the tannins and introduces subtle notes of sweet spices and leather, resulting in a rich, velvety red that beautifully bridges Piedmontese tradition and contemporary elegance.

Established in 1923 when Alfredo Prunotto acquired the cooperative 'Ai Vini delle Langhe,' the Prunotto winery is situated in Alba, in the heart of Italy's Piedmont region. Under the stewardship of the Antinori family since 1989, the estate has consistently championed the diverse terroirs of the Langhe and Monferrato hills. Prunotto balances traditional Piedmontese winemaking practices, such as aging in large oak casks, with modern precision to craft elegant, terroir-driven wines. The winery is celebrated for its exceptional single-vineyard expressions, including the Barolo Bussia and Barbaresco Bric Turot, alongside classic regional styles like Nebbiolo d'Alba Occhetti and Roero Arneis.
