Prunotto's Occhetti Nebbiolo d'Alba is a beautiful expression of Piedmont's signature grape, sourced from the historic Occhetti vineyard area in Monteu Roero on the left bank of the Tanaro River. The Prunotto estate, with roots dating back to the early 20th century under Alfredo Prunotto and later nurtured under the stewardship of the Antinori family, has long championed this site. The sandy, loose soils of Occhetti, rich in marine fossils, impart a distinctively elegant, fragrant, and softer character to the Nebbiolo grape compared to its more muscular neighbors in Barolo. Fermented in stainless steel and aged gently in oak casks for approximately 12 months, this wine weaves a tale of wild berries, rose petals, and subtle licorice, capturing the historic soul of Roero winemaking.
πΎ wine.about_producer
Established in 1923 when Alfredo Prunotto acquired the cooperative 'Ai Vini delle Langhe,' the Prunotto winery is situated in Alba, in the heart of Italy's Piedmont region. Under the stewardship of the Antinori family since 1989, the estate has consistently championed the diverse terroirs of the Langhe and Monferrato hills. Prunotto balances traditional Piedmontese winemaking practices, such as aging in large oak casks, with modern precision to craft elegant, terroir-driven wines. The winery is celebrated for its exceptional single-vineyard expressions, including the Barolo Bussia and Barbaresco Bric Turot, alongside classic regional styles like Nebbiolo d'Alba Occhetti and Roero Arneis.
