RedHeads 'Dogs of the Barossa' is a definitive tribute to the undisputed king of the region: Shiraz. The name playfully nods to the 'top dogs' of the Barossa Valleyโ€”both the legendary winemakers who established the region's reputation and the robust, muscular style of Shiraz that put South Australia on the global wine map. Sourced from low-yielding vines grown in the ironstone and clay soils of the Barossa, this wine undergoes traditional open-top fermentation before aging in a combination of French and American oak hogsheads. The result is a wine of immense power and character, capturing the dark fruit intensity, savory spice, and chocolatey depth that define classic Barossa Shiraz, all wrapped in RedHeads' signature rebellious spirit.

๐Ÿพ wine.about_producer

Established in 2002 in McLaren Vale by Tony Laithwaite as a collaborative studio for rebellious winemakers, RedHeads has since evolved into a state-of-the-art, eco-friendly winery located in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. Operating from its custom-built, solar-powered facility in Nuriootpa since 2019, the winery is dedicated to rescuing small, premium parcels of grapes from independent growers to craft expressive, small-batch wines. RedHeads is celebrated for its highly characterful, narrative-driven labels, producing acclaimed reds and whites such as the Dogs of the Barossa Shiraz, Whip-Hand Cabernet Sauvignon, and Esule, which showcase the diverse terroirs of South Australia with minimal intervention and maximum personality.
