The Josephshof is a legendary monopole vineyard in Graach, steeped in history since its establishment by the Cistercian Abbey of Himmerod in 1156, and solely owned by Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt since 1858. This steep, south-facing site features deep, moisture-retaining Devonian slate soils that yield Rieslings of immense power and structure. The Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) from this site, specifically from the esteemed Fuder 9016 cask, represents the pinnacle of German sweet winemaking. Crafted only in exceptional vintages, it requires the painstaking, berry-by-berry selection of shriveled, botrytis-affected grapes. Fermented slowly in traditional 1,000-liter oak casks, this rare nectar balances luscious, concentrated sweetness with the electric, mineral-driven acidity characteristic of the Mosel, unfolding complex layers of dried apricot, honeyed saffron, and wet slate.
