✨ Technical Specifications
Hailing from the legendary Kaseler Nies'chen vineyard in the Ruwer valley, this Riesling Auslese represents the pinnacle of cool-climate elegance. The vineyard's name is steeped in local folklore, often attributed to 'Annes' (little Agnes), a historical local vineyard owner, or the fine mist rising from the Ruwer river. Characterized by its sheer, precipitous slopes of weathered blue Devonian slate, the site yields Rieslings of extraordinary delicacy and mineral tension. Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt crafts this Auslese from meticulously hand-selected, botrytis-affected grapes. The resulting wine is a masterclass in balance, where luscious sweetness of candied peach, apricot, and wild honey is perfectly countered by the electric, crystalline acidity characteristic of the Ruwer. Fermented slowly to preserve its pristine fruit character, it develops profound complexity, petrol notes, and exotic spice aromas over decades of cellar aging.
🍾 About the Producer
With a documented winemaking legacy dating back to 1349, Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt is one of the most historic and revered wine estates in Germany's Mosel region. Headquartered at Schloss Marienlay in the Ruwer valley and owned by the Reh family since 1978, the estate holds an extraordinary footprint spanning the three distinct river valleys of the Mosel, Saar, and Ruwer. Dedicated almost exclusively to steep-slope Riesling cultivation, the winery stewards world-renowned VDP.Grosse Lage vineyard sites such as the Saar's Scharzhofberger, the Ruwer's Kaseler Nies'chen, and their historic Mosel monopole, Josephshöfer. Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt is celebrated for crafting site-expressive, mineral-driven Rieslings that range from vibrant dry expressions to profound, age-worthy noble sweet Prädikat wines.
