Hailing from the legendary Kaseler Nies'chen vineyard in the Ruwer valley, this rare Eiswein represents the absolute pinnacle of Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt's sweet wine production. The vineyard itself is situated on a dizzyingly steep, south-facing slope of fine, heat-retaining blue Devonian slate, which imparts a signature crystalline minerality and electric acidity to the Riesling grapes. The name 'Nies'chen' is steeped in local folklore, historically linked to a diminutive form of Agnes ('Nese'), though local tongue-in-cheek legend attributes it to the 'little sneeze' prompted by the vineyard's brisk valley winds. To craft this liquid gold, grapes must freeze naturally on the vine and be harvested by hand in the freezing dark of early winter mornings at temperatures of -7°C or lower. Pressed while still frozen, only the highly concentrated, sugar-and-acid-rich nectar is extracted, leaving the water behind as ice. This specific bottling is designated for the prestigious VDP Grosser Ring Auction, signifying an ultra-limited, hand-selected lot of extraordinary quality and rarity.
