✨ wine.spec_sheet

First created in 1874, Louis XIII is the crown jewel of Rémy Martin, representing an extraordinary blend of up to 1,200 distinct eaux-de-vie sourced exclusively from the chalky soils of Grande Champagne, the premier cru of Cognac. Made primarily from Ugni Blanc grapes, these precious spirits are aged over decades in historic, thin-walled oak casks known as tierçons. The name pays homage to King Louis XIII of France, who recognized Cognac as a distinct category in its own right. Each decanter is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, modeled after a Renaissance metal flask recovered from the site of the Battle of Jarnac. The creation of Louis XIII is a multi-generational legacy, where successive cellar masters dedicate their lives to nurturing spirits they may never live to see in their final blend.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1724 by the French winegrower of the same name, Rémy Martin is one of the oldest and most prestigious Cognac houses, based in the historic town of Cognac, France. The house is uniquely celebrated for its exclusive focus on Cognac Fine Champagne, sourcing grapes solely from the prestigious Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne crus to craft spirits of exceptional aging potential. Utilizing traditional double distillation on the lees in small copper pot stills, Rémy Martin ages its eaux-de-vie in toasted Limousin oak casks to develop its signature rich, aromatic profile. This meticulous craftsmanship culminates in world-renowned masterpieces, ranging from their classic VSOP and XO expressions to the legendary, ultra-premium Louis XIII.
