✨ Technical Specifications
Hailing from the historic village of Rorschwihr, where winemaking history dates back to the Roman era, the Riesling Rorschwihr 'Yves' is a testament to Domaine Rolly Gassmann's patient philosophy. This cuvée is named in honor of Yves Rolly, celebrating the union of the Rolly and Gassmann families. The grapes are grown on the complex, limestone-dominant soils of Rorschwihr, which impart a distinct mineral backbone and rich texture to the wine. Following the estate's traditional methods, the grapes undergo a slow, cool fermentation using indigenous yeasts, followed by extensive aging in large neutral oak foudres and years of bottle maturation in the estate's labyrinthine cellars before release. The result is a beautifully balanced, off-dry Riesling that showcases intense orchard fruit, petrol notes, and a vibrant, lingering acidity characteristic of the region's unique microclimate.
🍾 About the Producer
Formed in 1967 through the marriage of two historic viticultural lineages whose roots in the region trace back to 1611 and 1676, Domaine Rolly Gassmann is situated in the village of Rorschwihr in Alsace, France. Today managed by Pierre Gassmann and his family, the estate stewards over 50 hectares planted across an intricate mosaic of distinct geological terroirs with a deep commitment to sustainable and biodynamic principles. The domaine is renowned for its patient philosophy of aging wines in bottle for years or even decades prior to commercial release, allowing them to attain remarkable maturity and harmony. They are internationally celebrated for their opulent, off-dry and sweet white wines—most notably expressive Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer cuvées alongside legendary Vendanges Tardives and Sélection de Grains Nobles.
