Hailing from the historic commune of Reichsfeld, the Lieu Dit Buehl Riesling is a profound expression of one of Alsace's most fascinating geological anomalies: a rare vein of Precambrian blue slate dating back over 500 million years. While Alsace is famous for its diverse soils, this blue slate terroir imparts a distinctive, laser-like acidity and a deep, smoky minerality reminiscent of the Mosel, yet grounded in Alsatian power. Cultivated biodynamically, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts, then aged on fine lees. Established by renowned Rhône vigneron Michel Chapoutier alongside passionate partners, Schieferkopf was born from a pursuit to explore and elevate the unique blue schist terroirs of Alsace and neighboring regions. Located in the picturesque village of Reichsfeld in Alsace, the estate is deeply committed to organic and biodynamic viticulture that honors the complex geology beneath the vines.
