✨ Technical Specifications
The Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Spätlese 'Anrecht' is a spectacular single-parcel expression from one of Selbach-Oster's most prized historic plots. The name 'Anrecht' translates to 'entitlement' or 'claim,' historically referring to a choice parcel whose exceptional fruit was reserved for the estate owners or special cellaring. Grown on the steep, sun-drenched Devonian slate slopes of the Mosel, this 100% Riesling benefits from the river's heat-reflecting mirror effect. In the cellar, Johannes Selbach employs traditional, minimalist winemaking, fermenting the juice with wild yeasts in large, neutral oak Fuder casks. The resulting wine is a masterclass in Mosel tension, balancing rich, luscious stone fruit sweetness with a vibrant, electric vein of acidity and a deep, smoky, slate-driven minerality.
🍾 About the Producer
Steeped in centuries of family winemaking tradition along the dramatic slate slopes of the Middle Mosel, Weingut Selbach-Oster represents one of Germany's most distinguished Riesling estates. Managed by Johannes Selbach and his family, the estate meticulously tends prized, steep vineyard parcels across legendary grand cru sites including the Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, Zeltinger Schlossberg, and Wehlener Sonnenuhr, home to significant plantings of ancient, ungrafted vines. Cellar practices emphasize minimal intervention, relying on native yeast fermentations and maturation in traditional large oak Fuder casks to capture pure terroir expression and vibrant acidity. Selbach-Oster is celebrated worldwide for its benchmark, slate-driven Rieslings spanning crisp, mineral-rich Kabinett and Spätlese bottlings to profound, luscious single-vineyard Auslese and rare Eiswein expressions.
