โจ Technical Specifications
The Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, or 'sundial of Zeltingen,' is a legendary grand cru vineyard carved into the sheer, south-facing Devonian slate cliffs of the Middle Mosel. Named after the historic sundial erected in 1620 by Abbot Jodocus Bodemann, this site benefits from intense solar radiation and heat-retaining slate soils. Selbach-Oster's Riesling Auslese 1* represents a meticulous selection of highly ripe grapes, often touched by noble rot, harvested by hand from these precipitous slopes. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in traditional, large oak Fuder casks, this wine beautifully balances rich, exotic stone fruit sweetness with a vibrant, electric vein of slate-driven acidity, showcasing the pinnacle of Mosel craftsmanship.
๐พ About the Producer
Steeped in centuries of family winemaking tradition along the dramatic slate slopes of the Middle Mosel, Weingut Selbach-Oster represents one of Germany's most distinguished Riesling estates. Selbach-Oster is celebrated worldwide for its benchmark, slate-driven Rieslings spanning crisp, mineral-rich Kabinett and Spรคtlese bottlings to profound, luscious single-vineyard Auslese and rare Eiswein expressions.
