✨ wine.spec_sheet
The Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, named after the historic sundial erected in the vineyard in 1615, is one of the Mosel's most iconic grand cru sites. Its extremely steep slopes of weathered blue Devonian slate catch the full force of the sun, creating the perfect microclimate for noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) to flourish. Selbach-Oster's Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) represents the pinnacle of liquid gold, crafted only in exceptional vintages. Every single shriveled, raisin-like grape is painstakingly hand-selected berry by berry. Fermented slowly with indigenous yeasts, this 100% Riesling achieves a sublime tension between luscious, honeyed sweetness and a vibrant, laser-like acidity that keeps the wine incredibly fresh and light on its feet despite its immense concentration.
🍾 wine.about_producer
With a winemaking heritage in the Mosel region dating back to 1661, Selbach-Oster is a benchmark estate located at Uferallee 23, 54492 Zeltingen-Rachtig, Germany. Under the dedicated stewardship of Johannes Selbach and his family, the winery meticulously farms steep, slate-rich grand cru slopes, including the celebrated Zeltinger Schlossberg, Zeltinger Himmelreich, and Wehlener Sonnenuhr. The estate's production philosophy honors traditional methods, utilizing natural yeasts and aging in classic, large oak Fuder casks to preserve the pristine character of the fruit. This hands-off approach yields exceptionally precise, mineral-driven Rieslings that span the spectrum from crisp Kabinett to rare Eisweins, all documented on their official website at https://www.selbach-oster.de.
