Spier's Vintage Selection Chenin Blanc is sourced from selected vineyards within South Africa's Coastal Region, where diverse soil types, including decomposed granite and shale, and maritime influences shape the grape's character. Made from 100% Chenin Blanc, the wine is typically fermented and matured using a combination of stainless steel tanks to preserve fresh fruit aromatics and French oak barrels to add texture, complexity, and subtle spice. Extended lees contact is often employed to enhance the mid-palate weight.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 1692, Spier is one of South Africa's oldest and most historic wine farms, located along the Eerste River in the heart of the Stellenbosch region. Under the stewardship of the Enthoven family since 1993, the estate marries its rich heritage with a progressive commitment to regenerative farming, biodiversity, and organic practices. Spier is celebrated for its diverse portfolio of expressive wines, most notably its acclaimed '21 Gables' range, which pays homage to the farm's historic Cape Dutch architectural heritage through exceptional single-varietal Chenin Blanc, Pinotage, and Cabernet Sauvignon. With a winemaking philosophy centered on minimal intervention, Spier consistently crafts elegant, terroir-driven wines that capture the unique maritime-influenced climate of the Coastal Region.
