Suntory Royal was first introduced in 1960 to celebrate the company's 60th anniversary and stands as the final masterwork blended by Suntory's legendary founder, Shinjiro Torii. The 'SR' variant, particularly in the 'Queen Size' 1000ml bottling popular in the late 20th century, represents a classic era of Japanese whisky blending. Crafted using malt whiskies from the historic Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries alongside grain whiskies from Chita, this blend was designed to appeal to the sophisticated Japanese palate. The bottle's unique shape is inspired by the torii gate of the Yamazaki Distillery, symbolizing the gateway to Japanese whisky heritage. It offers a rich, harmonious profile of dried orchard fruits, gentle oak spice, vanilla, and a whisper of peat smoke.
