✨ Technical Specifications

The Macallan 12 Year Old Sherry Oak is a single malt Scotch whisky produced in Speyside, Scotland. This expression is matured for a minimum of 12 years exclusively in Oloroso sherry seasoned oak casks sourced from Jerez, Spain. Distilled in small copper pot stills, the resulting spirit is robust and full-bodied. The maturation process imparts a natural rich gold color and a flavor profile defined by dried fruits, warm spices, and oak. On the nose, it reveals notes of dried fruits and ginger, while the palate features sweet sherry, spice, and wood smoke, leading to a long finish with lingering sweet dried fruit and oak notes.

🍾 About the Producer

Established in 1824 by Alexander Reid, The Macallan is an icon of Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, situated on a 485-acre estate flanking the River Spey in northeast Scotland. At the core of the estate sits the Jacobean-style Easter Elchies House, constructed in 1700. The distillery's distinctive house character is defined by its famous 'curiously small' copper pot stills, whose compact shape and descending lyne arms maximize copper contact, generating a robust, viscous, and full-bodied new-make spirit. Emphasizing its Six Pillars philosophy, The Macallan enforces a rigorous wood management program, primarily sourcing bespoke European and American oak casks seasoned with Oloroso sherry in Jerez, Spain. The distillery relies entirely on cask influence for its 100% natural color, eschewing artificial caramel tinting. Renowned globally for depth, dried fruit concentration, and baking spice complexity, the estate's benchmark bottlings—most notably the Sherry Oak 12, 18, and 25 Year Old expressions—remain historic hallmarks of luxury Scotch maturation.
