Part of Trapiche's esteemed Terroir Series, this single-vineyard Malbec pays homage to Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, the visionary Argentine president who in the mid-19th century commissioned French agronomist Michel Aimé Pouget to bring European vines—including Malbec—to Argentina. Sourced from the historic Finca Domingo F. Sarmiento in the high-altitude sub-appellation of La Consulta within the Uco Valley, this wine showcases the dramatic diurnal temperature shifts and sandy-loam soils rich in calcium carbonate. The grapes are hand-harvested, meticulously sorted, and fermented in small concrete vats before undergoing aging for approximately 18 months in new French oak barrels. This process yields a deeply concentrated, complex Malbec characterized by intense dark fruit, floral violet notes, mineral undertones, and structured, velvety tannins.

Founded in 1883 by Tiburcio Benegas, Trapiche is one of Argentina's oldest and most pioneering wineries, located in the Maipú department of Mendoza. Operating from a historic, beautifully restored Florentine-style winery built in 1912, the estate is celebrated for introducing French grape varieties and modern viticultural techniques to the region. Under the guidance of renowned winemakers, Trapiche focuses on expressing the diverse terroirs of Mendoza—ranging from high-altitude Andean vineyards to their pioneering coastal estate in Chapadmalal, Buenos Aires. The winery is globally acclaimed for its exceptional Malbecs, particularly its Single Vineyard series, as well as elegant expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir.
