✨ Technical Specifications
Named in honor of the historic Estación Villafañe, a key railway station in Mendoza that played a monumental role in transporting the region's wines to Buenos Aires and beyond during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Trapiche's Villefane (Villafañe) Malbec celebrates this rich industrial and viticultural heritage. Crafted from select vineyards in Mendoza, this wine is designed to be an approachable, fruit-forward expression of Argentina's signature grape. It undergoes traditional fermentation followed by brief aging in oak to impart subtle structure and spice while fully preserving the vibrant, juicy red and black fruit characteristics of the Malbec grape.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 1883 by Tiburcio Benegas, Bodega Trapiche stands as one of the historic pillars of Argentine viticulture. Located in Coquimbito, Maipú, within a meticulously restored 1912 Florentine-style bodega, the estate balances immense production scale with nuanced terroir exploration. Under the ownership of Grupo Peñaflor and winemaking direction of Sergio Casé, Trapiche orchestrates fruit from over 1,000 hectares of estate vineyards alongside long-term grower partnerships. Holdings span high-altitude alluvial terraces in the Uco Valley, classic Primera Zona terroirs, and pioneering cool-climate oceanic sites in Chapadmalal on the Atlantic coast. Viticulture emphasizes environmental sustainability, complemented by certified biodynamic estate parcels. In the cellar, gentle extraction and refined oak aging define benchmark expressions like the iconic Iscay blend, the single-vineyard Terroir Series Malbecs, and the maritime Costa & Pampa line, showcasing the dynamic breadth of contemporary Argentina.
