Planted in 1879 by Edward Tyrrell, the legendary 4 Acres vineyard is one of the oldest continuously producing Shiraz blocks in the world. Located adjacent to the historic Tyrrell's winery in the Hunter Valley, these ancient, dry-grown vines thrive on their own roots in deep red clay soils. The resulting wine is a masterclass in elegance and restraint, defying the heavy, high-alcohol stereotype of Australian Shiraz. Fermented in traditional open-top oak vats and aged in large, neutral French oak casks, it retains a pure, medium-bodied profile defined by bright red berries, savory spice, earth, and seamless, silky tannins that reflect over a century of viticultural heritage.

Founded in 1858 by Edward Tyrrell, Tyrrell's is one of Australia's oldest and most prestigious family-owned wineries, nestled against the Brokenback Range in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. Spanning five generations of family stewardship, the estate played a seminal role in shaping modern Australian viticulture, including pioneering the country's first commercial Chardonnay with the legendary Vat 47 in 1971.
