Tyrrell's Special Release Fiano represents the historic Hunter Valley estate's innovative spirit, embracing alternative Mediterranean varieties that thrive in the region's warm climate. While Tyrrell's is legendary for Semillon, their exploration of Fiano—an ancient grape native to Campania, Italy—has yielded exceptional results. Grown in the sandy loam soils of the Hunter Valley, the grapes are harvested to retain natural acidity and fermented cool in stainless steel. This preserves the variety's signature textural complexity, vibrant citrus, pear, and spice aromas, backed by a distinctive saline minerality. It beautifully bridges the gap between Hunter Valley's traditional crisp white styles and the rich, savory textures of southern Italy.

Tyrrell's blev grundlagt i 1858 af Edward Tyrrell og er et af Australiens ældste og mest prestigefyldte familiedrevne vinhuse, smukt beliggende for foden af Brokenback Range i Hunter Valley i New South Wales. Vinhuset har været i familiens hænder i fem generationer og har spillet en skelsættende rolle i udviklingen af moderne australsk vinavl. Det var blandt andet her, landets første kommercielle Chardonnay så dagens lys med den legendariske Vat 47 i 1971. Vingården er fortsat dedikeret til traditionelle vinifikationsmetoder med minimal intervention samt bevarelsen af historiske, rodægte vinstokke, der giver vine med en enestående regional karakter.
