Veuve Clicquot's Rare Vintage represents an extraordinary expression of the house's vintage winemaking heritage, which famously began in 1810 when Madame Clicquot created the first recorded vintage Champagne in the region. These rare releases are crafted only in exceptional years and are subjected to extended maturation on their lees in the house's historic, UNESCO-designated Gallo-Roman chalk quarries (crayères) in Reims. This prolonged cellaring allows the Pinot Noir-dominant blend to develop magnificent tertiary complexity, structure, and depth, showcasing a harmonious balance between vibrant freshness and rich, evolved characters of dried fruits, brioche, and spice.

Founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot in Reims, Veuve Clicquot rose to global prominence under the visionary leadership of Madame Clicquot, the legendary Grande Dame of Champagne who took control of the house in 1805.
