The Château d'Ollwiller holds a legendary place in Alsatian history as one of only two castles in the region permitted to produce wine under its own 'Château' designation. Originally dating back to the 13th century, the estate was tragically destroyed during the fierce World War I battles at the nearby Hartmannswillerkopf (Vieil-Armand) and was subsequently rebuilt. Today, its vineyards are nurtured by the Cave du Vieil-Armand. The Pinot Noir from this historic estate is shaped by a unique microclimate and a terroir of clay, sand, and river pebbles. Unlike the lighter, rustic reds historically associated with the region, this cuvée is crafted to showcase a more elegant, structured, and aromatic expression of the varietal, rich with red berry notes and subtle earthy undertones.

Established in 1959 at the foot of the historic Hartmannswillerkopf battlefield in Wuenheim, France, the Cave du Vieil-Armand is the southernmost wine cooperative in Alsace.
