Hailing from the sun-drenched slopes of southern Alsace, the 'Douceur Automnale' (Autumn Sweetness) Gewurztraminer by Cave du Vieil-Armand is a poetic tribute to the late-season harvest. As autumn settles over the historic foothills of Hartmannswillerkopf, the Gewurztraminer grapes are left to hang on the vines, basking in the mild October sun to concentrate their natural sugars and develop complex, exotic aromatics. Grown on rich, mineral-inflected soils, the grapes are carefully harvested and slowly fermented to preserve their intense bouquet of lychee, rose petals, and baking spices. Founded in 1958 at the foot of the historic Hartmannswillerkopf hill—known in French as the Vieil Armand—Cave du Vieil-Armand is a distinguished cooperative estate situated in the southern Alsace village of Wuenheim.
