The Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg is legendary as the steepest vineyard in the Rheingau, boasting a dramatic slope that directly overlooks the Rhine River. Named after the historic ruins of Burg Ehrenfels which guard the site, this grand cru (Grosse Lage) vineyard is characterized by its slate, quartzite, and stony soils. Weingut Leitz's Grosses Gewächs (GG) from this exceptional parcel represents the pinnacle of dry German Riesling. The intense solar radiation reflected from the river, combined with the heat-retaining slate, coaxes incredible ripeness from the grapes, while the deep mineral core of the soil imparts a profound, smoky, and saline minerality.
