Perched on the breathtakingly steep, south-facing slopes of the Rüdesheimer Berg, overlooking the majestic Rhine River, the Berg Schlossberg vineyard is crowned by the medieval ruins of Burg Ehrenfels. This dramatic landscape, rich in slate and Taunus quartzite, provides the perfect microclimate for crafting one of the world's most elusive sweet wines: the Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA). Weingut Leitz only produces this rare elixir in exceptional vintages when autumn mists encourage the development of Botrytis cinerea, or 'noble rot.' Highly skilled vineyard workers painstakingly harvest individual, shriveled, raisin-like berries by hand. The resulting wine is a concentrated masterpiece, balancing luscious honeyed sweetness with the electric, mineral-driven acidity characteristic of the Rheingau's finest terroir.
