✨ Technical Specifications
Sourced from the steep Rüdesheimer Burgweg vineyard, where warm microclimates and river-reflected sunlight foster ideal conditions for noble rot (Botrytis cinerea). The soils, marked by quartzite, loess, and weathered slate, provide exceptional mineral tension. Only shriveled, botrytis-infected berries are painstakingly selected by hand at extreme must weights. Vinification proceeds at a very slow pace in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve crystalline purity, balancing immense residual sweetness with soaring natural acidity.
🍾 About the Producer
Weingut Leitz traces its familial viticultural ancestry back to 1744, though its modern renaissance commenced in 1985 when Johannes Leitz assumed control of the war-ravaged, 2.9-hectare family estate in Rüdesheim am Rhein. Through meticulous parcel acquisition and restoration of steep, historic slate and quartzite terraces, Leitz transformed the domaine into a premier Rheingau reference point. The estate's premier holdings encompass celebrated VDP.Grosse Lagen crus on the dramatic south-facing slopes of the Rüdesheimer Berg, including Berg Schlossberg, Berg Roseneck, Berg Kaisersteinfels, and Berg Rottland Hinterhaus. Farming is conducted sustainably under FAIR'N GREEN certification, employing green cover crops, pomace composting, and manual slope work. Cellar practices combine spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel and neutral Stückfass casks, yielding dry Rieslings characterized by crystalline minerality, razor-sharp tension, and phenolic depth, alongside innovative benchmarks such as the non-alcoholic Eins Zwei Zero portfolio.
