✨ Technical Specifications

The Wolfer Goldgrube, or 'golden grave,' is a legendary, amphitheater-like steep site in the Mosel, named both for the golden hue of its weathered slate soils and the backbreaking labor historically required to farm it. Weingut Vollenweider's Riesling Auslese from this vineyard is a sublime expression of this unique terroir, sourced from extremely old, often ungrafted vines. The wine is defined by its striking tension, where the luscious, honeyed sweetness of botrytis-affected fruit is perfectly counterbalanced by a laser-like, electric acidity. Fermented naturally and crafted with minimal intervention, this Auslese captures the essence of the Mosel's slate-driven minerality, offering complex layers of stone fruit, exotic spices, and a persistent, saline finish.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded in 1999 by Swiss native Daniel Vollenweider, Weingut Vollenweider is based in Traben-Trarbach in Germany's celebrated Mosel valley. Without family land or inherited infrastructure, Vollenweider dedicated himself to reviving neglected, century-old ungrafted vines clinging to the dramatic, slate-rich amphitheater of the Wolfer Goldgrube. Through meticulous, hands-on cultivation of these extreme steep slopes and traditional, low-intervention cellar work, the estate became a beacon of pure Mosel expression. Today, Weingut Vollenweider is internationally revered for its crystalline, mineral-laden Rieslings, particularly its legendary, highly collectible Auslese and Goldkapsel dessert wines.
