Crafted from the legendary, dizzyingly steep slopes of the Wolfer Goldgrube vineyard in the Mosel, this Beerenauslese (BA) is a testament to the late Daniel Vollenweider's vision of reviving neglected, ancient vineyards. The vineyard's name, 'Goldgrube' (Gold Mine), reflects both the golden hue of its slate soils in the sunlight and the liquid gold produced from its ungrafted, pre-phylloxera Riesling vines. To create this rare sweet wine, botrytised grapes are meticulously hand-harvested berry by berry under extreme conditions. The resulting wine is a masterclass in tension, where the intense, honeyed concentration of noble rot is perfectly counterbalanced by the Mosel's signature electric acidity and deep, salty slate minerality.

Established in 2000 by the late Swiss winemaker Daniel Vollenweider, Weingut Vollenweider is located in Traben-Trarbach in the Mosel region of Germany. The estate is renowned for reclaiming and preserving historic, extremely steep vineyards, most notably the Wolfer Goldgrube, which features ancient, ungrafted Riesling vines. Operating with a philosophy of meticulous manual labor, low yields, and minimal intervention in the cellar, the winery crafts highly precise, mineral-driven white wines, particularly their legendary, tension-filled Riesling Auslese expressions.
