The Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) Goldkapsel represents the absolute pinnacle of sweet winemaking from the steep, slate-strewn slopes of the Mosel. Sourced from the historic Wolfer Goldgrube vineyard—a site resurrected through the sheer determination of the late Daniel Vollenweider—this rare cuvée is crafted only in exceptional vintages. The vineyard's ancient, ungrafted Riesling vines dig deep into the weathered grey slate, yielding fruit of extraordinary concentration. To produce a TBA of this caliber, harvest workers must painstakingly select individual, shriveled berries affected by noble rot (botrytis) directly from the vine. The 'Goldkapsel' designation denotes an auction-grade lot of even greater richness and selection, resulting in a nectar that balances luscious sweetness with the Mosel's signature, electric acidity and profound mineral depth.

Established in 2000 by the late Swiss winemaker Daniel Vollenweider, Weingut Vollenweider is located in Traben-Trarbach in the Mosel region of Germany. The estate is renowned for reclaiming and preserving historic, extremely steep vineyards, most notably the Wolfer Goldgrube, which features ancient, ungrafted Riesling vines. Operating with a philosophy of meticulous manual labor, low yields, and minimal intervention in the cellar, the winery crafts highly precise, mineral-driven white wines, particularly their legendary, tension-filled Riesling Auslese expressions.
