Sourced from the legendary Kirchspiel vineyard, a majestic east-to-southeast-facing amphitheater in Westhofen, this Grosses Gewächs Riesling is a masterclass in limestone-driven elegance. The vineyard's unique topography shields the vines from cold westerly winds, creating a warm microclimate where grapes ripen perfectly while retaining vibrant acidity. The soil, rich in skeletal limestone (Muschelkalk), imparts a profound, salty minerality and high-toned citrus energy to the wine. Under the biodynamic stewardship of Philipp Wittmann, the fruit is harvested by hand, gently pressed, and fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in traditional, large neutral oak casks. With viticultural heritage in Westhofen dating back to 1663, Weingut Wittmann is one of Germany's most influential pioneers of organic and biodynamic viticulture in the Wonnegau sub-region of Rheinhessen.
