Established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii on the misty outskirts of Kyoto, Yamazaki is Japan's oldest malt distillery, situated where three rivers meet to create the ideal humid microclimate for maturation. This legendary single malt is aged exclusively in rare, indigenous Mizunara oak casks. Mizunara is notoriously difficult for coopers to work with due to its porous nature and twisted growth, requiring trees to be at least 200 years old. However, the patience required yields an unparalleled sensory experience.
